Real Madrid didn’t deserve to beat Barcelona

Barcelona deservedly beat Real Madrid 2-0 in the Bernabeu last night. The first leg semi-final of the Champions League was decided by two superb goals by Argentinean superstar Lionel Messi .

Harsh

The decision to send-off Real Madrid’s Pepe was harsh but Real Madrid deserved nothing better than defeat for their attitude towards the game.

Real boss Jose Mourinho put out a side hoping for a 0-0 or to nick a goal on the break.

Los Blancos started the game with no recognised striker and Cristiano Ronaldo up front on his own. The Portuguese star looked bemused by his bosses first half tactics and was completely ineffective. Mourinho’s tactics may have worked in the past but they didn’t in this clash as Barcelona took advantage of the extra space.

Drama

Everybody involved in Real Madrid claimed that Barcelona were play-acting and making the most of situations. However both sides were just as bad as each other. Both sets of players didn’t cover themselves in glory with their behaviour.

Real and Mourinho like to think that they are king of the mind games but all their mind games came to absolutely nothing. The play-acting nearly ruined the game as a spectacle.

Class

Lionel Messi was one of the few players on the pitch capable of rising above the pettiness and showing some class. He did just that with a typically brilliant Messi strike in the 87th minute and a well taken opener.

Hopefully this game will now be remembered for his brace and not just the ugliness of the rest of the night. These games are decided by players who rise to the occasion and Messi does just that.

Nullify

If Real Madrid had went for the game they may have came out on top. The likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Karim Benzema and Gonzalo Higuain could cause any sides defence problems but Mourinho didn’t want to risk Barcelona taking control of the game.

In the end Real started out defensive and still managed to be on the receiving end of a 2-0 defeat. Real Madrid will need to overcome the inferiority complex the club have towards the Spanish champions and it was thought that Real had managed to overcome that complex by winning the Copa Del Rey.

Behind

Unfortunately for Los Blancos fans they are still behind their bitter-rivals and will have their work cut out to make it into the final. They will have to win 3-0 at the Nou Camp and stop the home side from scoring.

Real Madrid have a stronger squad than Barcelona but the Catalans have a better team and stronger work ethic. Real Madrid are starting to develop more of a team spirit and next season they could even threaten Barca’s dominance.

Arrogant

I used to really like Jose Mourinho but he is starting to grate on me. He has always managed to get results from his teams and has won trophy after trophy. He has also always got the results to back up his big talking.

However this season his team haven’t been the best in their league and it seems to really irritate him. The ex-Chelsea boss is anything but a good loser and always has his excuses ready. The referee Wolfgang Stark gave him a ready made excuse last night.

Scared

The sending-off however only masked the fact that Real Madrid are still scared of Barcelona. It proves that even the mighty Real Madrid are still not in the same league as their La Liga rivals.

Did Barcelona deserve to beat Real Madrid?

Wid mourinho i think he could be able to defeat Barca with 22players on field as he is desperate in signing players by players i think this is Joses mind game………
i ve seen Reals tactics of injuring Barcas key players like Messi, xavi, iniesta, pedro, villa, alves, puyol in order to give their contracts to their hitmans in forms of pathetic pepe, marcelo, carvalho, ronaldo and himself if he could. take my suggestion Mourinho STOP DREAMING and try play football rather than crying on sidelines baby…….. SHAME SHAME SHAME !!!!!!!!

Hey guys any body would say Real r even nearer to the quality of play as Barca does, i would give away a billion dollars which ofcourse i dont have………… Sorry mourinho it was a fluke with you win agains barca with the Inter squad and so your success mocked Real owners as the moment they thaught they would sign on silverware in order to sign you…..

Barca did some play acting. But there were other Red Cards to be gotten by Marcelo, Sergio Ramos and especially Adebayor. Pepe’s roughness and malicious game is not a new thing, and referees are humans also. who have gotten familiar with him.

Do you HONESTLY think it is logical for you to assemble a team with the likes of PEPE , CAVALHO & Sergio RAMOS, then instruct them to play a negative game, without expecting the possibility of one or even TWO red cards…

last season Pellegrini’s Madrid came close to beating Barca at the Camo Nou. And Real had the greater possession. I am a sincere Madrid fan but i was glad for Barca this season because they reminded me of the old Madrid that I know.

Fellow Madrid fans should ask why the f*** Mourinho prefers Adebayor to Benzema (I am African BTW), and why he hates Kaka so much? Benzema, Kaka & Huguain accounted for the 6 goal demolition of Valencia, yet Mourinho thinks they are better off on the bench.

Inter played Barca 4 times last season, Barca won 2 of those matches, and dominated ALL except one. They even thrashed Inter 2-0 without several key players when Inter faced the possibility of not progressing to the 2nd round.

What do all you Barca fans have to say about the Stamford Bridge scandal? I really like how you guys just turn your heads when and undeserved advantage is awarded to you. You are all pathetic wannabes that decided to jump the Barca-boat after they started to win a lot of trophies. Sure Barca plays the most attractive football on the planet but you Barce fans know for a fact that you have always have the influence of the referees and football’s governing bodies, you are just too ashamed and coward to admit it.
I can recall countless times where Barcelona got the undeserved and outright outrageous advantage in games, i.e. Chelsea vs Barcelona or Real madrid vs Barcelona (Higuain’s disallowed goal).
Yes this Barca team is one for the history books but honestly Barcelona is a shameless team that hides behind it’s name

Jose Mourinho as we all know is only trying to avoid being sacked and it worked for him. next season will be tight a bit cos if he fails to bring in champions league cup and la liga he will face sack. for Barcelona they should stop play acting and sign thiago Milan, fabregas, Rossie and Sanchez. they barca should straighten their defense and continue the play is very lovely.

Guys let’s not be fanatics like Sama-sama(Chips)fans.let’s give credit where is due but stop unfair practices.Barca benefiting from refs,a big time,Im a barca fan but it’s irritating, bcus Players may get used to this when refs are no longer interested fail to deliver.who can forget like Chips 95 percent of their success is based on lie due to refs bad practices.if they are good let’s see now!Sama sama is pathetic like those recists of Spain,I abhor Spanish people for that.they hate Blacks.

Dani might have fluffled that red card a bit ur right, but if you took the number of times barca players actually roll on the ground in “pain” and compare that to those like real or neone else, they prolly dramatize less than a fourth of the fouls, they are all about continuing the game, and so what if they drop the ball into their own half, if they can keep it away from you, why not. I would rather pass the ball in my half for 85minutes and attack for 5 then sit back and take it for a single shot at counterattack. Barca is the best because they make you play their game. No one can find solutions, and I do not feel anyone will ever find a solution to it.

@Saber…I think the problem is with the players. Mourinho did it with a less talented Inter squad…he didn’t need $400million worth of divas to get his treble…Mourinho is the Special One and he will get his way with Barcelona again…whether he plays attacking or defensive, it doesn’t matter. When things are done his way, he has proven that his formula for success works again and again.

Oh you…Madrid Fans. Just learn to accept defeat first. Then maybe your reasons may earn a bit of noticing. The Special One …don’t make me laugh…salah…He gathered a lot of attacking star players to play a defenssive game. Thats unacceptable. I am a Madrid fan too…and it realy hurts to see they way we played against Barca…that too on the loosing side. Had the self proclaimed Special one(not by me) played attacking game …like in those concluding games of liga…them we had a huge chance….errrrrr…..! I thought he knew the players way better than we laymens do but sadly not. Futile coaching…Hope he wakes from his stupid reverei…and begin trusting his own players!!!

I think we are all bias to defend wat we believe.though a barca fan but to realy be object, regardles of whatever pattern real played,Alves and Pedro’s actions are nt justified and the refrees decision is not laudable.on the part of the refree,he’s not liable cos it takes replay to vindicate Pepe.for Alves and Pedro though not professional but its only human when you play with that is that offensive,it isn’t barca’s way.though Pepe card was not justified bt didn’t marcelo and adebayo each deserve a red card?costly though but happens in soccer.

    Brutality vs Play-acting…

Madrid can’t hide their brutality – it stands out like a dark spot on a white shirt…Barcelona’s play acting is more subtle and harder to catch… it only makes sense that Madrid would get penalized more as their antics are easier to notice…

1- if thats the way the richest team in the world would play i am stuned
2- alves acted big time, pedro acted 2
3- i want 2 say something you all missed and that is: JM players uses excessive agressivity in every game even against the small clubs but speciallly against barca in the areal and foot challenges and take advantage of the trash talk 2 put pressure on the refs and that showed at camp nou when the ref became conservative.
pepe didnt deserve the red but marcelo did the way he steped on pedros leg (no one saw that ???,it left a bruise the cameraman got it), what about adebayor he deserved a red after continuasly kicking and hitting like he is playing kickboxing lets change the game’s name to ball wrestling
ps:dont play pure aggresive and u wont get a red
    play football

I sincerely believe that Barca will play they way they always play but their downfall will be their potency.

Barca will not be as potent as usual and UTD will take advantage. Prediction: UTD 1 BAR 0.

After reading this, I can get over the loss by my team. They were just as bad as each other with the dives but the thing is that Barca’s were noticable and affected the match completely. With the red card to Pepe, I believe it was too harsh for him. I referee myself and I would have given then a yellow definately but I understand why the referee gave it a red. They need to add in video referees into the sport because he cannot see what actually happens in tackles every single time. Its just a shame we didnt make it to the finals, but I still <3 my team. Can’t seems to understand after spending closed to $400. Less then 2 years ago. In your own ground the best coah in the world JM. put up a 7 men defense. Real has the best players/Coach that money can buy.Spending millions each and \EVERY SEASON that’s not the solution for a great team. $52 million for Richardo KAKA. Bring every HOT players in the world at Real each years (that’s not the answer) I missed the 70’s Brasil national side /the 80’s AC Millan/ The 90’s Madrid. Fc Barca proved why they’re world CHAMPS with 7 current active players from their school….Vista barca>> they are the best soccer team in the world/ and i’ll hope that Man United come out and play against Barca in the Cl final….

barca plundered 5 goals against ’11 men real’ on november,2010. they defeat real another consecutive 4 classico, where real had 11 men.
if u talk about barca’s play-acting, then what about ronaldo’s diving? he is master about that. barca is not play-acting team at all, it happened to be only for that match. we hate maurinho’s negetive football. real is one of the most attacking team in the world. real should sack him. good luck for real.

HOWEVER, AS FOR ME BARCA IS THE BEST TEAM IN THE HOLE WORLD IF PEOPLE LIKE IT OR NOT THEY WE COLLECT THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE AND THE LA LIGA, SPANISH SUPER CUP, E.T.C. @BRAD,exactly that’s how it is with jose. how can people complain of him being defensive when they thrashed VALENCIA the 3rd place team in la liga with 6 goals. back to the issue, it happened in arsenal in the return leg, they had one player sent off and it was the same controversial fashion. barca really lost some credibility with all this.

Vcuong: “Hw will pla attack when he wants where he wants”
If he won’t play attacking football in his own stadium then he will never play attacking football. In the copa he didn’t and in the league he didn’t. He has now never beat barca in the normal 90 minutes of a game. His tactics are not working he is not the right coach for real madrid if they want to beat barca. I do not condone barca’s acting, but Mourinhos’s tactics were ludicrous and I now think he has run out of ideas to play barca. He has only one gameplan and thats to defend. That’s not gonna win you matches he has to change something or he will continue to lose.

  • Vcuong

Whats his tactics got to do with how Barcelona act? Just because you don’t like a good team defending in a big match doesn’t mean you can ignore the opposite team action?? Pep clearly plan to play against 10m with all the acting (and Pinto), Now that is 100 times worse than playing defend tactics.

He’s a better coach than anyone else, if he’s predictable he wouldn’t here today. He will play attack when he wants and where he wants. Not when you want or when Real Madrid’s fan want.

  • David Nugent

Jose Mourinho likes to think he is the king of the mind games. This is Real Madrid playing at home in a semi-final clash and theres nothing wrong with defending?

Correct me if I’m wrong but haven’t Real Madrid got hundreds of millions of attacking players in their squad?

  • Vcuong

    0 0

Just because Mourinho chose the defending tactics and you guys chose to ignore Barcelona lowlife looking for red card and acting tactics?
There is nothing wrong with defending.
He defend to put more pressures on you guys attacking in the next game and prevent you guys from playing whatever beautiful back passes you are proud off, it would get all onto all you players nerves… And it really did. Its a psycological game plan not just not to concede at all.

  • Vcuong

    0 0

    So bias report.
    Pep was the coward!
What an embarassment is Pep planned to look to play against 10m again.
Pedro acting got Arbeloa a yellow. Half time Keita and Pinto both tried to aggrevate Arbeloa to get him out but failed. But the ref only penalised Pinto which doesn’t effect Barcelona at all!
Then later on Busquests acting. Then the master Alves Acted… Finally they got 1 man out… It was well planned!

What has Real Madrid done that is worse than Barcelona dirty tactic before they went 1 man down and 1 goal down? After that They just wanted to show Barcelona What real pain are. They don’t need to Act anymore. And with no Pepe marking Messi, Arbeloa on yellow, Ramos on yellow. No one can really challenge Messi. Try to play against 11men first!

    • David Nugent

Vcuong Guardiola didn’t send his team out not to concede. However Mourinho did and it backfired. I don’t think anybody can deny that, so I don’t think it’s biased at all.

These el Classico’s are getting awkward to watch…they are the most anticipated matches of the season, yet they end up being the worst played matches of the season…two powerhouse teams, yet they can’t play a decent game, each pointing the finger at the other to blame for the ugliness… from Madrid’s violent ethics, to Barca lobbying of the refs…these matches just seem to bring out the worst in both teams…

@harry: The right team should be under the right coach’s hand. Mourinho is not for Real…

I totally agree with this. may be Mourinho should go back to Italy (Inter Milan or AC Milan) where one strategy is implied by every team, that is, Defend and then Defend again…

I don’t think EPL is a suitable place for him by far and Alex Ferguson would never allow him to take over his place at ManUtd when he retire because of his false football tactics.

  • harry

The right team should be under the right coach’s hand. Mourinho is not for Real, face the truth, guys. Real style is attacking possession football, not cowardly defending as said by some excuses that confronting Barca offers no choice but this approach. Both are topnotch clubs in the world with lots of respect from others, so just play the way their tradition has adopted because that is your character, your selected one.
At the very beginning, I could sensed the approach that this guy would apply to his team and some success would soon hide the fans’ reminiscence of the “Real” football, but it is De Stefano said the point that the lacks, personality.

  • Thabo Caves

Mourinho’s tactics were idiotic he wouldn’t even try to come out and attack in his own stadium. How are you supposed to win that way? Arsenal proved that you can come out and attack Barca and come away with a good result, but Mourinho decided to sit back. It doesn’t make any sense. Real Madrid have never won a game against Barca this season in the normal 90 minutes of a game, his tactics aren’t working, he should not be praised for what he has done. And barca aren’t favoured by referees that stupid. Mourinho is risking someone getting sent off every time he plays so defensivly and plays Pepe who even in central defense is a red card waiting to happen and now you play him out of position as a defensive midfielder and he is almost assured a red card. Barca deserved to win this because they have Messi not because they played that much better if messi is not there they do not win this game.

  • cloud

Nugent, yes, both teams are ugly, each trying to “over react”, but seeing things as they were the referee should have give a yellow, he could give all the players from both teams yellow cards coz they all deserve it, well, except for Messi, who just played innocently. This is a total disgrace to Spanish football, them, being the World Champions and them having all the players from the national squad comes from Real and Barca. I don’t know if this is possible but a replay of the first leg on neutral ground and closed doors should be played.

go to the official website of Real Madrid, they have a video of the incident, it clearly showed that Pepe did not touch the leg of Dani Alves, but what’s really annoying is when he got out thru a stretcher and then came back on as if nothing happened. Why is it that only Jose’s opinion are wrong, yes, he is arrogant but that’s his psychological game against his opponents. Barcelona should be ashamed of this. I’m starting to believe Jose’s comments about Barcelona being favoured by referees during crucial matches, the videos don’t lie.

  • Brad

kinda sad, it’s either a blowout by one team that does real good, the other terrible, or they both beat each other up and complain when they get nailed. It’s almost as if there’s no such thing as an EPL. . . .

Vcuong Guardiola didn’t send his team out not to concede. However Mourinho did and it backfired. I don’t think anybody can deny that, so I don’t think it’s biased at all.

  • Vcuong

Just because Mourinho chose the defending tactics and you guys chose to ignore Barcelona lowlife looking for red card and acting tactics?
There is nothing wrong with defending.
He defend to put more pressures on you guys attacking in the next game and prevent you guys from playing whatever beautiful back passes you are proud off, it would get all onto all you players nerves… And it really did. Its a psycological game plan not just not to concede at all.

Jose Mourinho likes to think he is the king of the mind games. This is Real Madrid playing at home in a semi-final clash and theres nothing wrong with defending?

Correct me if I’m wrong but haven’t Real Madrid got hundreds of millions of attacking players in their squad?

  • Vcuong

    0 0

Whats his tactics got to do with how Barcelona act? Just because you don’t like a good team defending in a big match doesn’t mean you can ignore the opposite team action?? Pep clearly plan to play against 10m with all the acting (and Pinto), Now that is 100 times worse than playing defend tactics.

He’s a better coach than anyone else, if he’s predictable he wouldn’t here today. He will play attack when he wants and where he wants. Not when you want or when Real Madrid’s fan want.

  • Thabo Caves

ALL FOR BARCA THIS SEASON,ALL THANK 4RM LEO MESSI THAT GAVE US THE WINNING AND ALSO XAVI CONTROL THE FIELD WHILE THE HOLE TEAM DOMINATE IN THE GAME, NEVERTHELESS BARCELONA ARE THE STRONGEST TEAM OF ALL TIME SINCE 2001 AND THEY KEEP ON PLAYING AS ONE ALSO MAINTAINING THERE RECORD. ONE THING THAT ALWAYS SURPRISE ME MOST IS THAT WHEN REAL MADRID IS DOMINATING IN LA LIGA NO BODY CAN SEE THAT BUT WHEN IT IS BARCELONA TURN NOW, PEOPLE ARE NOW SHOUTING. HOWEVER, AS FOR ME BARCA IS THE BEST TEAM IN THE HOLE WORLD IF PEOPLE LIKE IT OR NOT THEY WE COLLECT THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE AND THE LA LIGA, SPANISH SUPER CUP, E.T.C. @ Vcuong & real fans:
barca plundered 5 goals against ’11 men real’ on november,2010. they defeat real another consecutive 4 classico, where real had 11 men.
if u talk about barca’s play-acting, then what about ronaldo’s diving? he is master about that. barca is not play-acting team at all, it happened to be only for that match. we hate maurinho’s negetive football. real is one of the most attacking team in the world. real should sack him. good luck for real.

I sincerely believe that Barca will play they way they always play but their downfall will be their potency.

Barca will not be as potent as usual and UTD will take advantage. Prediction: UTD 1 BAR 0.

    Brutality vs Play-acting…

Madrid can’t hide their brutality – it stands out like a dark spot on a white shirt…Barcelona’s play acting is more subtle and harder to catch… it only makes sense that Madrid would get penalized more as their antics are easier to notice…

  • Chelsea FC Fan

@Saber…I think the problem is with the players. Mourinho did it with a less talented Inter squad…he didn’t need $400million worth of divas to get his treble…Mourinho is the Special One and he will get his way with Barcelona again…whether he plays attacking or defensive, it doesn’t matter. When things are done his way, he has proven that his formula for success works again and again.

Yes this Barca team is one for the history books but honestly Barcelona is a shameless team that hides behind it’s name

last season Pellegrini’s Madrid came close to beating Barca at the Camo Nou.

  • Rotimi

Barca did some play acting. But there were other Red Cards to be gotten by Marcelo, Sergio Ramos and especially Adebayor. Pepe’s roughness and malicious game is not a new thing, and referees are humans also. who have gotten familiar with him.

Do you HONESTLY think it is logical for you to assemble a team with the likes of PEPE , CAVALHO & Sergio RAMOS, then instruct them to play a negative game, without expecting the possibility of one or even TWO red cards…

  • Asif

Hey guys any body would say Real r even nearer to the quality of play as Barca does, i would give away a billion dollars which ofcourse i dont have………… Sorry mourinho it was a fluke with you win agains barca with the Inter squad and so your success mocked Real owners as the moment they thaught they would sign on silverware in order to sign you…..

  • Asif
