Real Madrid seem to have realized that they can do nothing about Ronaldo this summer. As much as the Spanish giants want the Portuguese winger, it seems that Manchester United want him more.
Now Real Madrid have decided to try and lure another Premier League star to the Spanish capital and, according to reports, have set their sights on Arsenal’s midfield orchestrator, Cesc Fabregas.
News of the World reports that Real Madrid could spend the money they had set aside for Ronaldo (possibly as much as £70 million) to buy Fabregas.
Arsenal would not be interested in selling their best player, and the same report claims that Fabregas – a former Barcelona trainee – would like to stay at Arsenal for one more season. The Gunners, however, do have a history of selling their best players.
Some other items on Real Madrid’s shopping list this summer are: an attacking midfielder (one of Diego, van der Vaart or Kaka’) and a striker (preferably David Villa), according to News of the World.
