Real Madrid enquire about Martinez
Real Madrid have launched an official enquiry into the availability of FC Porto striker Jackson Martinez, reports Marca.
Los Blancos are slowly losing patience with misfiring Karim Benzema and everything suggests they will sign a new centre forward next summer.
Real Madrid have so far been linked with Robert Lewandowski, Luis Suarez and Radamel Falcao, but latest reports suggest they could turn their attention to Porto’s Jackson Martinez.
Marca has suggested that los Blancos have asked the Dragons to name their price for the Colombian striker.
After scoring 26 goals in 30 league matches last term, the 27-year-old has continued the rich vein of form this season, netting 7 times in as many Primeira Liga games.
Real Madrid, who are 11/4 for the league title, will continue to monitor the player’s development with a view of luring him to Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the season.
City join chase for Mascherano
Daily Telegraph is reporting that Manchester City are considering a January bid for Barcelona midfielder Javier Mascherano.
The Argentine appears to be nearing Camp Nou exit and it looks as though the Catalans won’t be able to prevent him from leaving in the winter.
At the moment, Napoli are believed to be leading the chase for the 29-year-old, but Daily Telegraph has suggested that Manchester City are keen as well.
Manuel Pellegrini reportedly wants to pair Mascherano with Yaya Toure in the centre of the park and he will attempt to sign the Argentina international in January.
Javier Mascherano has amassed no less than 89 La Liga appearances for Barcelona, but he is not too happy about being played in defence.
With Carles Puyol resuming full training and Marc Bartra showing a great deal of potential, the Catalans might be prepared to listen to offers for the Argentine.
Mitroglu in high demand
Olympiakos striker Kostas Mitroglou is being linked with a number of Europe’s top sides, according to Greek newspaper Gazzetta.
The 25-year-old has been in scintillating form at the start of the new season and his impressive displays did not go unnoticed.
Gazzetta has learned that Arsenal, Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan, Benfica and Sporting Lisbon are all keeping close tabs on the Greece international.
Olympiakos are not too keen on cashing in on their star player, but it is believed they would consider offers in the region of €10 million.
Kostas Mitroglou has spent his youth career in Germany and played for Borussia M’gladbach reserves before joining Olympiakos in 2007.
The Greek forward has been notching goals for fun this term, netting no less than 12 times in just 9 competitive matches, scoring four hat-tricks in the process.
