Real Madrid were interested in signing Cristian Romero from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2024, according to Fichajes. The report has claimed that Madrid saw Romero as a good option for defence, but the player himself was keen on staying in North London and Spurs themselves did not want to cash in on the Argentina international central defender.
Romero is one of the best defenders in the world and has been superb for Tottenham and Argentina over the years. The 26-year-old centre-back won the Copa America with Argentina in 2021 and 2024 and the FIFA World Cup with the South American giants in 2022.
Tottenham are one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League and are aiming to finish in the top four this season. As for Madrid, they are aiming to win La Liga and the UEFA Champions League this campaign, just as they did last season.
