Spanish giants Real Madrid have been linked with a summer move for Benfica defender Victor Lindelof, El Mundo Deportivo has revealed.
The 21-year-old Sweden international has impressed for Benfica this season while also earning his first cap for the national team as he went on to establish himself as one of Europe’s best young defenders.
Various clubs have already expressed their interest in signing the Benfica talent, but Real Madrid have joined the race for a possible thug-of-war with their bitter rivals Barcelona, who are also believed to be monitoring the progress of the 21-year-old.
Having seen their hot-shot teenager Renato Sanches sing for Bayern Munich, Benfica are keen to hold on to their most prized possessions and will do their best to keep Lindelof in Portugal for another season.
The Swedish defender still has four years in his current deal with Portugal giants and Eagles are understood to be demanding as much as €40 million in effort to scare off the interested parties.
