Real Madrid are set to open talks with Real Sociedad over the signing of talented defender Inigo Martinez, Marca has learned.
Los Blancos have been keeping close tabs on the 22-year-old for quite a while, but they are reportedly set to make their interest concrete.
Real Madrid officials plan to further rejuvenate the back line for the 2013/2014 season and hope to sign Martinez in the summer transfer window.
And while the defender’s release clause stands at €30 million, los Blancos will attempt to lower the asking price, although that will be no easy task.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid have already prepared a five-year deal for Martinez worth €2.4 million per campaign, which is enough to suggest they are determined to lure the player to Santiago Bernabeu.
Los Merengues managed to close the gap behind La Liga leaders Barcelona to just three points and are now 7/4 for the league title.
