If rumours from Spain are to be believed, Real Madrid have given up on their pursuit of Rodrigo Bentancur.
Boca Juniors midfielder was the subject of intense speculation linking him to Los Blancos in recent weeks and even the player himself spoke of his admiration for the Spanish giants, saying he was honoured by Real Madrid interest.
The two clubs have reportedly even agreed on the transfer fee believed to be in the region on €10 million and the deal was to be formalized within the next few days. Rodrigo Bentancur’s agent Daniel Bolotnicoff has travelled to Madrid to finalize the personal details of the agreement, but the transfer has hit the unexpected u-turn.
Wednesday reports from Spanish daily Marca claim however that Florentino Perez himself has stopped the transfer with the impending FIFA penalty believed to be main reason for such decision.
The Spanish media outlet also reports that the Argentine club have been disappointed with the latest development which left the player’s representatives return from Madrid empty-handed.
