Spanish daily newspaper AS has learned that Real Madrid are stepping up their efforts to sign Valencia full-back Jose Gaya.
Los Blancos are widely expected to offload Fabio Coentrao at the end of the season and they see the los Che defender as a perfect replacement.
Real Madrid plan to take advantage of the player’s €18 million release clause and secure his signature well ahead of the summer transfer window.
Gaya, 19, is believed to be delighted with interest from Madrid and he is hoping to move to Santiago Bernabeu at the earliest opportunity.
Meanwhile, Valencia technical department are doing their best to try and keep hold of their prized asset, and have offered the youngster a lucrative new contract worth €1.5 million per campaign.
Jose Gaya, who can also operate as a left-sided midfielder, has managed 1 goal and 4 assists in 22 la Liga appearances for los Che this season.
