German newspaper Bild reports that Real Madrid are in pole position to sign Schalke wonderkid Julian Draxler.
The 19-year-old has been in scintillating form this season, which has seen some of Europe’s top clubs show interest in his services.
AC Milan and Juventus have been casting admiring glances, but Bild reveals that Real Madrid are stepping up their efforts to sign the talented footballer.
Jose Mourinho is somewhat short of options in the final third, and he is eager to lure Draxler to Santiago Bernabeu.
The player himself has already hinted that he would like to play Champions League football next season, which means that he is likely to leave Schalke if the Miners fail to secure a top 4 finish.
Schalke currently sit in fifth place in the Bundesliga standings, and even if they are tied on points with fourth-placed Eintracht, the likes of Mainz, Borussia M’gladbach and Hamburg are just one point behind.
