(GSM) – Real Madrid have targeted David Luiz to bolster their defence. A Bola claims the Spanish giants lead the race for the Benfica defender who’s also tracked by Chelsea.
Real are eager to bring Luiz to the Bernabeu and had considered signing the centre half in January following the long-term injury to Pepe.
Real director general Emillio Butragueno admitted that his club is interested in signing Luiz and have made contact with representatives of the player over a summer move.
Chelsea’s interest in the 22-year-old has reportedly alerted Los Blancos to step up the chase for Luiz.
The former Vitoria defender has a 50 million euro release clause in his current deal and with both Real Madrid and Chelsea expected to match that fee, it will be up to Luiz to decide where he wants to play.
