Real Madrid line up Benzema replacement

Spanish giants Real Madrid are in the market for a new centre forward, according to L’Equipe.

Head coach Zinedine Zidane is getting increasingly concerned by the poor form of first choice striker Karim Benzema, who only managed 2 goals in 12 La Liga fixtures this season.

As a result, los Blancos are almost certain to recruit a new striker this winter and latest reports suggest they’ve got two players on their hit list.

The first name on their radar is Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi, who has been in excellent form for quite some time.

The Argentine leads the Serie A goalscoring charts with 17 goals in 19 games and he is widely regarded as one of world’s leading centre forwards.

RB Leipzig starlet Timo Werner is also followed by Real Madrid, having bagged 8 goals in 15 Bundesliga matches.

Mauro Icardi is really good player. But Real Madrid needs the best, especially after K Ronaldo left royal football club.

Maybe they could get a left winger and commit to CR7 at striker? A lone stiker? As lone striker, he could bring defenses in to him and hit a myriad of skilled players on passes, give and go, or get more chances to take it himself with his world class team mates. Thomas Mueller and Mandzukic have moved to the wing; so why not do the opposite with Ronaldo? Or you think their preference, Zidane and/or Ronaldo’s, is to keep him paired in a two-forward formation with something like the 4-1-2-1-2 while still giving him freedom to roam freely, move to the left flank and so forth?
