Real Madrid are interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur central defender Cristian Romero and Jarrard Branthwaite of Everton, according to CaughtOffSide. Madrid, who won La Liga and the UEFA Champions League last season, are looking to bring in a new centre-back in the middle of the campaign, and Romero and Branthwaite are on their radar.
Madrid have had injury problems in defence. David Alaba is on the sidelines at the moment, and Eder Militao have also been ruled out with a long-term injury. Carlo Ancelotti’s side are six points behind leaders and bitter rivals Barcelona in second place in the La Liga table at the moment, although the Blaugrana have played a game more. Los Blancos are 18th in the UEFA Champions League League Stage table with six points from four games.
Romero is one of the best defenders in the Premier League and is a key player for Tottenham. As for Branthwaite, he is one of the best young centre-backs around and is one of the first names on the Everton teamsheet when he is fit and available.
