According to Marca, Real Madrid are keeping an eye on RB Leipzig defender Castello Lukeba.
Following the defeat to Manchester United in the race for the signature of Leny Yoro this summer, Los Blancos continue their plans to strengthen the central defence, and Lukeba appears to be the type of player they’re looking for. After the acquisition of Eden Hazard from Chelsea in 2019 for a reported fee of €120 million went wrong, they are wary of spending big money on players in or close to their thirties.
Lukeba is only 21 and shouldn’t be too expensive, despite his contract with Leipzig running until 2028. The left-footed centre-back joined the Bundesliga side from Olympique Lyon in 2023 for €30 million. Since then, he’s gone on to make a total of 46 appearances in a Leipzig shirt across all competitions, mostly as a starter under Marco Rose.
Real apparently had scouts in attendance at the Wanda Metropolitano on Thursday, when Lukeba played the full 90 minutes in his team’s defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.
