Reigning European champions Real Madrid are said to be willing to open negotiations with Tottenham Hotspur over a possible return of Gareth Bale to London.

Los Blancos are believed to have their own agenda, however, as they would be willing to offer the Welsh wizard in exchange for Christian Eriksen, Don Balon understands.

Gareth Bale has largely struggled to break into the Real Madrid fold last season but did remarkably well to show he is still a world-class player by putting a sublime display against Liverpool in the Champions League final.

The former Tottenham star scored a brilliant brace to help his team defend the European crown.

It won’t have been enough to persuade Real Madrid officials, however, who are willing to send the Welshman back to London as part of a €140 million deal for Barcelona target Christian Eriksen.

Bale has already suggested this summer could be crucial for his Real Madrid future and a return to the Premier League is believed to be his prefered choice.
