Catalan super club Barcelona have been trying to negotiate a deal with Liverpool for their star Brazilian Philippe Coutinho since the summer, but now their eternal rivals Real Madrid may be set to derail the bid and bring the Brazilian to the Bernabeu, according to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo.
Liverpool have been reportedly stalling in negotiation talks due to the fact that Barca want to take their star player in January, while the Merseyside club want to hold onto him at least until next summer. However reports suggest that Real Madrid have contracted Jurgen Klopp to inquire about Coutinho’s contract situation.
Los Blancos have allegedly suggested that they would be willing to wait until the end of the season to bring the Brazilian to the Spanish capital – a time frame that would much better suit Liverpool. Aside from the convenience, Real also need to offload some players in order to make room for the astronomical wages that Coutinho will likely require.
Despite the rumours Barcelona remain the favourites to sign the winger, but an interesting struggle is about to ensue between two of the biggest clubs in Europe for an incredibly talented player.
