Spanish powerhouses Real Madrid are readying a January assault on Manchester United winger Juan Mata, according to Daily Express.
The Spaniard’s long-term future at Old Trafford is in doubt considering that his contract is due to expire at the end of the season.
Mata was also left out of the matchday squad for weekend’s high-profile clash against Chelsea, which could suggest a January exit may be on the cards.
According to Daily Express, Real Madrid are ready to make their move as they believe the 29-year-old would be a good addition to the squad.
Chances are that Mata would be interested in returning to Santiago Bernabeu, since it was there that it all started for him.
The highly rated footballer left Real Madrid for Valencia without making a competitive appearance for the senior squad, but he did score 10 goals in 39 matches for Real Madrid Castilla.
