Real Madrid reignite interest in Casilla

Real Madrid are keeping close tabs on Espanyol goalkeeper Kiko Casilla, reports El Confidencial.

Los Blancos were showing interest in the 27-year-old this summer, but they ultimately decided to recruit Keylor Navas instead.

However, with Iker Casillas widely tipped to leave in the near future, Real Madrid look set to rekindle their interest in the Espanyol star.

Kiko Casilla may have a €20 million release clause inserted in his deal, but he is also entitled to 50% of the transfer fee and has a contract that is due to expire at the end of the current campaign.

Espanyol officials are doing their best to persuade the player into signing a new deal that would see his release clause lowered to €10 million, but it is important to note that Real Madrid have the right of first refusal having sold Casilla to los Periquitos back in 2007. The highly rated goalkeeper has just received his first ever Spain call-up.
