Real Madrid are set to fire manager Bernd Schuster and replace him with former Tottenham and Sevilla coach Juande Ramos, the Cadena Ser radio station reported on Tuesday.
Schuster's head was placed firmly on the block on Sunday when Real slipped to a humiliating 4-3 home defeat to Sevilla, a result that left them languishing in fifth place in the league, nine points behind leaders Barcelona.
Cadena Ser reported that Schuster could be on his way later on Tuesday after Real's director of sports Pedja Mijatovic had spoken with club president Ramon Calderon.
Schuster upset Real fans after Sunday's game by saying that his injury-riddled side had no chance in next weekend's game in the Nou Camp against arch rivals Barcelona.
Ramos was sacked as manager of Tottenham in October following a disastrous start to the season that saw the Londoners bottom of the Premier League, but he enjoys a healthy reputation in Spain based on his successes with Sevilla which included two UEFA Cup wins in 2006 and 2007.
Cadena Ser said that Ramos could be installed as Real coach later Tuesday and take his first training session later in the day ahead of Wednesday's Champions League game against Zenit St Petersburg of Russia.
Calderon has also come under pressure to resign from Real fans following a run of poor results culminating in Sunday's crushing defeat.
