Real Madrid are enduring a difficult time in La Liga which culminated with Julen Lopetegui getting the sack on Monday following a resounding 5-1 defeat in last weekend’s El Clasico.
Los Blancos are going through one of the worst patches in their history but still remain focused on the future with the club’s technical sector still pursuing transfer opportunities.
And according to the reports coming from Marca, Real Madrid are close to agreeing a deal with River Plate central midfielder Exequiel Palacios who is expected to move to Santiago Bernabeu in the summer of 2019.
European champions are said to have already agreed a deal said to be worth €20 million for the 20-year-old Argentinean.
Palacios has been on the radar of Barcelona and Atletico Madrid as well but it appears that Los Blancos have won the race for his signature. A deal for Palacios is expected to be finalized during the winter transfer market but the player will remain with River Plate until the end of the season.
