According to Marca, Real Madrid have decided to stop their search for a Karim Benzema replacement – and instead, they’re going to put their faith in the Frenchman. What will likely happen instead, via the report, is that they’ll attempt to sign some kind of back-up for Benzema. One name that has been thrown around for this position is Mariano Diaz, who has been heavily linked with a move to Real in the last few days.
This may come as something of a surprise to a lot of fans, as a lot of people felt as if the 30-year-old’s days at the Bernabeu were numbered. Alas, the last nine years that he’s spent scoring for the European champions has clearly meant something, as he’s been given the chance to prove that he’s still got it.
During his time with the club, Karim has won two La Ligas, two Copa del Reys and four Champions League titles.
