Ajax superstar Frenkie De Jong continues to hit the headlines as one of the most sought-after footballers in Europe.
Dutch midfielder already has the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham and Barcelona lined up but the latest reports claim that Real Madrid are prepared to join the chase this winter.
The 21-year-old’s stock has gone through a rapid rise over the past couple of months thanks to his impressive performances at Ajax and the fact he was rewarded for his fine exploits with a Netherlands senior debut earlier this month.
Barcelona were said to be leading the race for his signature but De Telegraaf claims that Real Madrid are ready to throw a challenge.
Los Blancos have identified De Jong as an ideal replacement for Mateo Kovacic who moved to Chelsea this summer. Real Madrid are reportedly willing to go as high as €80 million to acquire his services once the transfer window reopens in January.
