Samba Foot is this morning reporting on how Brazil legend Roberto Carlos wants his former team Real Madrid to sign Inter Milan defender Maicon.
The 30-year-old has only one year remaining on his contract with the Serie A club and there has been plenty of speculation about his future.
Carlos – who had 11 excellent years with Madrid – has now urged his former team to make a move for his fellow countryman.
Speaking to Marca, he said: “If he ends up going to Real Madrid, I’m sure no-one will regret the signing. Maicon has everything Real Madrid needs.”
Whether Madrid manager Jose Mourinho listens to Carlos and makes a move remains to be seen, but if he does, he is sure to have competition from other clubs across Europe.
ESPN reported earlier this week that Barcelona, Chelsea and PSG were all in the mix – along with Madrid – to sign the full-back and that Inter are willing to listen to offers.
Overall, it seems almost certain that Maicon will move on, it is just a matter of the destination.
Will La Liga Champions Real Madrid make their move and this starting a bidding war for the defender’s signature?
It is certainly set to be a fascinating transfer story this summer and it is a big move for Maicon too who probably has around five years left at the top of his game.
