Spanish giants Real Madrid attempted to recruit French defender Layvin Kurzawa in the summer, Marca has claimed.
Los Blancos were on the lookout for a left-sided defender as Fabio Coentrao was set to leave and they made a move on the France international.
However, while Real Madrid waited for Contrao’s move to Monaco to be finalised, Paris Saint-Germain swooped in and secured the signature of the 23-year-old footballer.
With Lucas Digne failing to prove his worth at Parc des Princes and Maxwell expected to leave the club at the end of the season, Kurzawa is soon set to become the first choice left-back in Laurent Blanc’s side.
The 23-year-old had earned rave reviews for his performances at Monaco and a number of Europe’s high-profile clubs were after his signature in the summer transfer window.
Kurzawa eventually joined PSG in a €24 million deal and it remains to be seen whether he has made the right choice.
