Catalan daily Sport is reporting that Real Madrid are closing in on Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti.
Having worked with him at Parc des Princes, les Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti is eager to lure the youngster to Santiago Bernabeu, and it appears the player is keen on moving to Madrid as well.
Sport has learned that the Italy international already has an agreement in principle to join Real Madrid this summer.
However, it remains to be seen whether the La Liga side will be able to reach an understanding with Paris Saint-Germain.
It was Carlo Ancelotti who gave Verratti a chance to shine at Parc des Princes, with the 21-year-old going on to become an important member of the side.
The talented footballer was in the starting line-up as Italy defeated England in their opening World Cup fixture, albeit watching the Costa Rica defeat from the bench. The Azzurri are priced at 9/5 to defeat Uruguay.
