According to a recent report from Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid are interested in the possibility of bringing in Xabi Alonso to potentially replace Zinedine Zidane as the new manager at the club. It’s no secret that there are some issues behind the scenes for Zidane, and those issues are spilling out onto the pitch.
His return to the club was met with a great deal of adulation but just a few months later, it all appears to be turning sour. The Frenchman oversaw Real’s dramatic 3-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League earlier this week, in a result that certainly raised some questions as to his leadership.
Alonso, on the other hand, who is a former Real Madrid player, is currently the manager of Real Sociedad’s B team – which would ensure quite the step up for him.
Still, it certainly feels like there is some validity to these rumours.
