(GSM) – Real Madrid had a tough time beating Osasuna last night but eventually recorded a 3-2 home win.

General director Jorge Valdano was pleased with the final result and with Real’s fighting spirit.

“It was a strange game because we only managed to wrap up the win at the end. Real Madrid never give up the fight and the crowd has been there for us. We hope to write a new chapter in this fight, which everyone though we had already lost,” Valdano said on the club’s official website.

“The title would have been practically unreachable had we drawn the match, but the team would have kept on fighting to the end. This victory will help us keep Barcelona on edge. It’s never the same to face a game knowing that another team is also putting pressure on you.

“We have players with great character and Cristiano [Ronaldo] is one of them. He brings life to the team. It always seems something is about to happen whenever he gets the ball.

“Our next three games will be tremendous. Barcelona must be going through the same as us. It will be a clash of titans. We hope to win the title in the end.”
