Napoli appear set to challenge Real Madrid for the signing of Brazil starlet Lucas Lima, La Gazzetta dello Sport can reveal.
The Santos playmaker is widely tipped to join a top European club after spending his entire career in native Brazil.
Following some impressive displays in domestic championship, Lima also broke into the starting line-up in the Brazil national team and scored on his first competitive start to help the Selecao avoid defeat to bitter rivals Argentina.
Soon after the Superclasico, it was reported that Real Madrid were keeping a close eye on his performances, and now La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Napoli are keen as well.
With Lima unable to agree a new deal with Santos, he should be made available for sale in the January window, and the Azzurri may decide to step up their interest.
Even though his employers are holding out for €20 million, the 25-year-old could be available for less given that his current deal is due to expire in December 2017.
