Real Madrid have offered a new contract to Karim Benzema, according to Le Parisien.
The striker, soon to turn 32, joined the Spanish giants back in the summer of 2009 for a reported fee of €35 million, and so far he’s found the opposition net 236 times in 482 appearances in the famous white shirt, winning four Champions League trophies, two La Liga titles, and two Copa del Rey competitions in his time with the club.
Benzema was always a highly useful attacking partner for Cristiano Ronaldo, but his goalscoring prowess seems to have hit another level since the Portuguese superstar left to join Juventus last year. Juninho, who played alongside him at his former club Olympique Lyon and is now their sporting director, recently said he’d love to see Benzema return there to finish his playing career, but it seems he will have to wait a bit longer if that is ever to happen.
Benzema’s current contract expires in 2021, but if he signs the newly offered one, he will be bound to Real until 2023.
