Real Madrid are set to launch an assault on Borussia Dortmund playmaker Mario Goetze, according to El Mundo Deportivo.
Jose Mourinho has made the 20-year-old his number one priority for the summer transfer window and has instructed the club chiefs to open negotiations with his club.
The Portuguese manager believes Goetze would be a great wing partner for Cristiano Ronaldo, although he could decide to use him in a more central role as well.
The Germany international has missed a big part of last season through injury, but he recovered in time to make Germany Euro 2012 squad.
Goetze has four years left on his deal at Signal Iduna Park, but he has flirted with Europe’s top clubs in the past.
Instead of spending their transfer kitty on a number of new players, los Blancos could decide to splash the cash on Goetze instead, although luring the player to Santiago Bernabeu will be no easy task.
Due to the aforementioned injury, the attacking midfielder has featured in just 17 Bundesliga games, but he has scored 6 goals in the process and produced another 4.
