The loan deal which still has Real Madrid’s Brahim Diaz playing for AC Milan is about to expire, and it seems Los Blancos have decided to make him a part of their project from next season.
Diaz has scored 16 goals and produced 10 assists in 106 matches in all competitions for Rosseneri since joining their ranks on a two-year deal in the summer of 2021, and played a major role in their Serie A triumph last season. He also scored the decisive goal in this season’s Champions League round of 16 against Tottenham Hotspur.
Real face the possibility of losing Toni Kroos or Luka Modric, or maybe even both, at the end of the season. The two heavily proven world-class players will not be easy to replace, but Los Blancos are believed to be working on it very hard. Having already secured the likes of Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni, they are reportedly involved in the race for the services of Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham.
But being happy with the way Diaz has developed at Milan, they will probably be questioning the apparent need to spend well over €100million on the England international, when what they need might already be in their hands.
Diaz is currently contracted to Real until 2025, and it seems they’re keen to have him at the Santiago Bernabeu for longer than that. According to Fabrizio Romano, they’ve already drawn up an offer of a new deal for the 23-year-old Spaniard.
