Real, PSG vying for Joao Mario

Portuguese daily newspaper A Bola claims that Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain lead the chase for Sporting CP midfielder Joao Mario.

The Portugal international has become one of Europe’s most sought-after footballers, and the Lions have already rejected bids from Inter Milan and Liverpool, believed to be €35m and €40m respectively.

Sporting namely hopes that Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain will get closer to their €60 million valuation, which could, however, prove a stumbling block to any deal.

Joao Mario recently emerged as one of Portugal’s hottest prospects and he had an important role to play as the Selecao lifted the Euro 2016 trophy.

The 23-year-old hopes he will be allowed to join a top European club this summer, but Sporting obviously plan to sell to the highest bidder.

Joao Mario was in fine form last season, having managed 7 goals and 12 assists in 45 competitive matches.
