Talk Sport are today reporting that Real Madrid are ready to step up their interest in Lille full-back Mathieu Debuchy.
Jose Mourinho did state that his club could do more business between now and the end of the transfer window despite singing Luka Modric from Tottenham.
Is seems as though Mourinho wants more competition for that position and Debuchy could challenge Alvaro Arbeloa for a first-team place.
It is being suggested that the La Liga Champions are willing to offer Lille £9.5 million to secure the services of one of their prized assets.
The Frenchman put in some great performances for his national side at the European Championships earlier in the summer and that has now got him noticed by the Spanish giants.
Debuchy has notched up 218 appearances for the Ligue 1 side and now, at 27-years-old may feel as though it is time to take his career to the next level.
Real’s interest looks to have put a dent in Newcastle’s hopes of signing the defender though. Alan Pardew is said to be an admirer of the French international and was keen to bring him to the English Premier League.
The Magpies may not be able to be offer the same kind of deal as Real can.
