According to AS, Real Madrid have ruled out the possibility of bringing Cristiano Ronaldo back to the Santiago Bernabeu.
The 37-year-old, currently at the World Cup in Qatar with Portugal, is a free agent following the agreement to have his contract with Manchester United terminated a couple of days ago after his openly scathing criticism of the 20-time European champions in an interview with Piers Morgan.
Ronaldo spent nine years in the Spanish capital, scoring as many as 450 goals in just 438 appearances in all competitions for Los Blancos.
Real have a few problems to resolve at the moment, with this year’s Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema currently ruled out with an injury that has forced him to leave France’s World Cup squad.
The only designated striker in Real’s ranks apart from Benzema is Mariano Diaz, who is completely out of favour at the club and has played only 25 minutes across five games all season, and that has apparently caused speculation about Ronaldo potentially returning to the Santiago Bernabeu. However, at this point, Real have no intention of making a move to re-sign their former superstar.
