Handed the chance to climb as high as second in the Western Conference, Real Salt Lake will welcome Seattle to the Rio Tinto Stadium on Thursday morning.

Starting with the hosts, putting in yet another impressive display in their 2-1 win away at Sporting Kansas last weekend, Real Salt Lake are enjoying arguably their brightest run of the year. Climbing into the top-seven in the West and with the chance to leapfrog Seattle and take second spot, Head Coach Freddy Juarez has seen his side enjoy an MLS unbeaten run that stems back to the 7th of July. A huge part of Salt Lake’s eye-catching revival has been their continued form at the Rio Tinto Stadium. Including a 3-1 win over NYCFC earlier in the month, Thursday’s hosts have won six of their last seven matches on home soil and are unbeaten in Utah since the start of May.

As for the visitors, while Salt Lake might be enjoying a purple patch in the second half of the season, Seattle find themselves in the midst of a real struggle. Putting in another worrying display in their 3-3 draw against New England last weekend, Freddy Juarez’s men have recorded just a single victory since the middle of July and now find themselves in a battle to secure a play-off spot in the West. Also losing both of their previous two trips to the Rio Tinto Stadium, including a 2-0 defeat back in May, we’re backing Real Salt Lake to extend their winning run on Thursday.
