Competition: MLS
Market: Real Salt Lake win
Odds: 2/1 @ Bet 365
Now on a run of form that has seen them lose just of their last five MLS matches, Mike Petke’s Real Salt Lake side will face off against an Earthquakes side who have only managed just the two wins all year.
Starting with the hosts, coming off the back of a 1-0 loss to a revitalized Seattle Sounders side, San Jose have now failed to win any of their last 13 matches in the MLS, a run that stems all the way back to the start of May. Along with holding the second-worst defensive record, it will be Mikael Stahre’s side form in the final third that will be the biggest cause for concern. The Earthquakes have now failed to find the net in any of their last three outings and we’re backing another difficult afternoon for the hosts.
As for Mike Petke’s side, now with just one loss in their last five outings, The Claret and Cobalt have climbed into the playoff positions and along with scoring 11 in their last five, they will travel to Avaya Stadium filled with confidence. One man to watch for the visitors is attacker Joao Plata. Now Salt Lake’s top scorer with six goals in this campaign, the 26-year-old scored in their 2-2 draw with The Rapids last time out and now has three in his last two outings. Backing Salt Lake to come away with the win at 2/1 seems like the most logical bet here.
