Real set to sign Martin Odegaard
Spanish daily newspaper Marca has learned that Real Madrid are set to win the chase for Norwegian wonderkid Martin Odegaard.
The talented footballer seems to have been convinced by los Blancos and looks set to move to Santiago Bernabeu, although Real Madrid officials cannot afford to relax just yet.
Having seen superstar Neymar slip out of their grasp few years ago, they are determined not to make the same mistake and continue to work hard on signing the 15-year-old footballer.
Odegaard will turn 16 in less than two weeks, meaning there will be no obstacles to the January transfer to Real Madrid.
Despite his fragile age, the youngster has already impressed at senior level, scoring 5 goals in 23 league outings for Stromsgodset.
He was also handed his Norway debut back in August and even featured in the Euro 2016 qualifier against Bulgaria.
Lazio eyeing Sporting’s Mauricio
Serie A giants Lazio are considering a January bid for Sporting Lisbon centre-back Mauricio, Il Corriere dello Sport can reveal.
With both Santiago Gentiletti and Diego Novaretti struggling through injury, the Biancocelesti aim to sign a new central defender in the upcoming transfer window.
According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Sporting Lisbon defender Mauricio has emerged as their primary target.
It is believed that the player’s agent Carlos Goncalves will prove integral to any deal due to his good relations with the Serie A side, with Goncalves helping Bruno Pereirinha move to Stadio Olimpico some two years back.
Mauricio has made instant impact at Estadio Jose Alvalade since arriving from Sport Recife, making 37 league outings and scoring one goal.
And having signed the Brazilian for a nominal fee, the Lions look set to turn a nice profit on the 26-year-old footballer.
Barcelona in the market for new right-back
Catalan daily El Mundo Deportivo is reporting that Barcelona are looking to sign a new right-sided defender in the January window.
The Catalans have signed Douglas Pereira as a replacement for Dani Alves, but the Brazilian has had a difficult start to his career at Camp Nou and boss Luis Enrique does not believe the 24-year-old is ready for competitive action.
Meanwhile, La Masia graduate Martin Montoya is not in the first team plans as he looks to leave in the January window, with Luis Enrique hoping to recruit a new right-back at the earliest opportunity.
As you probably know, Barcelona are banned from signing new players, but they believe that recent injury to summer signing Thomas Vermaelen will see the league allow them to sign a replacement for the Belgian.
As a result, Barcelona are looking at Valencia’s Joao Pereira and Granada full-back Allan Nyom, two players who should be available at a reasonable price.
Adriano Correia is another player who can play at right-back, although Luis Enrique sees the Brazilian as a back up to Jordi Alba on the left.
