Competition: La Liga
Market: Real Sociedad win
Odds: 7/10 @ 888sport
Making a return to home soil in midweek, Real Sociedad will be hoping to extend on their unbeaten start this time around when they host Valencia on Tuesday evening.
Starting with the hosts, picking up their first victory of the new campaign in what was empathic fashion over the weekend, Real Sociedad secured what was a thumping 3-0 win away at Elche and the mood in their camp remains at a real high. Already bringing in the likes of now-former Manchester City icon David Silva over the summer, another European finish is firmly at the top of Imanol Alguacil’s agenda this time around. Yet to taste defeat since opening the 2020/2021 campaign and also landing what was a deserved point against defending champions Real Madrid at the Reale Arena nine days ago, Sociedad will also be boosted by what was another rampant display when they last faced off against the Bats back in February. Securing a 3-0 romp when Valencia last came to town, Alguacil’s men will be looking to lay down a similar marker.
As for the visitors, while Valencia might have shocked many after opening the new campaign with a dramatic 4-2 win against local rivals Levante on home soil, the Whites are certainly a side with a string of issues behind the scenes. With left-back Jose Gayà the only player at the Mestalla not to be transfer listed over the summer, former Watford boss Javi Garcia will know that his side also hold what is a worrying reputation for their issues on the road. Continuing on their away day issues this year after getting hit with a sluggish 2-1 defeat against Celta Vigo earlier in the month, Valencia have remarkably now failed to win any of their last 13 contests across all formats on their travels and could be in for another long evening’s work on Tuesday. Without a win against Sociedad since 2018, we’re backing a similar home victory in midweek.
