Luka Jović of Eintracht Frankfurt has come up on the radar of Real Madrid, according to AS.
The Serbian is currently on loan from Benfica, but Frankfurt have an option to buy which they have already decided to trigger. He has impressed at the Bundesliga club with 18 strikes in 25 matches in all competitions so far, but it remains to be seen if they have the power to keep him from the clutches of 13-time European champions.
However, Real will have to try hard and snap him up quickly, as they face serious competition in the form of arch-rivals Barcelona and Bayern Munich. All three clubs are looking for a young backup option up front, one that would have the potential of becoming a long-term successor to their star strikers, Karim Benzema, Luis Suarez and Robert Lewandowski. Jović fits that description well with his versatility, pace and finishing ability.
Real have been linked with Lewandowski before, but they have apparently chosen not to pursue that deal due to his age (31), and the same goes for Edinson Cavani of Paris Saint-Germain (32 in February). Harry Kane is also not an option due to Tottenham Hotspur’s tough negotiating stance.
