Barcelona are keeping tabs on Boca Juniors promising striker Sergio Araujo, Marca reports.
The 19-year-old forward has attracted a lot of attention playing for Argentine youth sides and he now has a long list of admirers despite playing just 10 senior games for Boca.
A number of Serie A sides have shown interest in his services, but it now appears that Barcelona are leading the race for his signature.
The only problem is that it is Real Madrid who have the first option to buy the Boca youngster.
Under the agreement that Real Madrid reached with Boca when Fernando Gago was transferred to Santiago Bernabeu, los Merengues were awarded the first option rights on Juan Forlin, Ezequiel Munoz, Gonzalo Cabrera, Franco Fragapane and Sergio Araujo.
This basically means that los Blancos can prevent Barcelona from signing the 19-year-old prospect, which is certainly the worst case scenario for the Catalans.
