According to Fichajes, Real Madrid are considering the possibility of re-signing Sergio Ramos as an emergency solution. The 38-year-old defender is currently a free agent, following the expiration of his contract with Sevilla at the end of last season.
Real are going through an extremely difficult injury crisis their back line. Eder Militao and Dani Carvajal aren’t expected back in action this season, while head coach Carlo Ancelotti cannot call upon David Alaba or Lucas Vazquez at the moment either. In that aspect, bringing Ramos back on a short-term contract would indeed make sense.
However, there are also reasons why the return of the Real Madrid legend, who spent 16 years at the Santiago Bernabeu and played a total of 671 games in the famous white shirt, isn’t easy to imagine. Ramos left Real in 2021 as a free agent after his contract expired, and throughout his last season at the club, a rift between him and Real president Florentino Perez became more notable by the week.
Things won’t have improved between them since.
