Real Madrid have been working hard on the long-awaited overhaul of the squad, with five newcomers in different position already secured. It appears that all they need now is a creative central midfielder, and according to AS, they are currently trying to decide between going in for Paul Pogba of Manchester United or Christian Eriksen of Tottenham Hotspur.
The Spanish outlet claims that head coach Zinedine Zidane would prefer his compatriot to the Dane. Zidane has already expressed his admiration for Pogba publicly back in March, describing him as a complete midfielder, one that knows both how to attack and how to defend.
However, Real’s hierarchy would apparently prefer to go for Eriksen, as they believe his arrival would open up the Danish market for them as the Spurs man is by far the Scandinavian country’s greatest football star at the moment.
For their part, both players have recently stated that they feel the time may have come for new challenges, with Pogba going a step further by saying that playing for Real Madrid would be a dream come true for any player. He has, however, recently been linked with a return to Juventus just as heavily.
