Real to enter Jović race

Real Madrid are set to fight arch-rivals Barcelona for Luka Jović, according to Sport.

The Serbian international, who scored against Germany last week but was left on the bench during the Euro 2020 qualifier in Portugal on Monday, has impressed clubs around Europe this season playing for Eintracht Frankfurt on loan from Benfica, and is considered “hot property” at the moment. Barcelona have set their sights on him as a long-term replacement for the 32-year-old Luis Suarez, and he has also been linked with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan, Manchester City, Arsenal and Bayern Munich.

Real are destined for a tough battle if they are really keen on the 21-year-old striker as part of their summer overhaul of the squad under Zinedine Zidane. They have been linked with Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and Liverpool’s Sadio Mane, but they feel Jović would be a cheaper option, more suited for their plans given that he is younger too.
