Real Madrid are ready to offer Fabio Coentrao to Manchester United in an attempt to lower the asking price for David De Gea, according to Marca.
Los Blancos have emerged as hot favourites to recruit the Spanish keeper after he failed to extend his deal at Old Trafford, with even manager Louis van Gaal admitting the 24-year-old was unlikely to remain at the club beyond the summer.
But, with Manchester United placing a €40 million price tag on the player’s services, the transfer is far from completed.
It is clear that Real are not ready to match said valuation, but they will offer Fabio Coentrao in exchange for having the price reduced.
The Red Devils have been showing interest in the Portuguese defender for a couple of years now and this could be a perfect opportunity to lure him to Old Trafford.
Coentrao has been playing second fiddle to Marcelo at Santiago Bernabeu and is determined to leave in search of first team football.
