Real to join Upamecano race

Real Madrid are preparing to enter the race for Dayot Upamecano of RB Leipzig, according to AS.

The 21-year-old has been an important part of the success Leipzig have achieved this season. It remains to be seen in what way the term will be concluded across Europe in light of the Coronavirus pandemic, but as things stood in Germany before football was stopped, Julian Nagelsmann’s team were well within a shot of the Bundesliga title with only five points less than Bayern Munich in the lead, and with 13 rounds to go. They had also qualified for the Champions League quarterfinals.

Upamecano is being widely perceived as a part of the next generation of world’s great defenders, something Real obviously need to consider given that their captain Sergio Ramos has turned 34. However, Real are not the only one with an eye for his talent. Bayern have been credited with interest too, as have Arsenal and Barcelona.
