Real Madrid are considering making an offer for Tottenham Hotspur’s Christian Eriksen in January, one that would include Luka Modric going the other way, according to El Desmarque.
While the primary wish of head coach Zinedine Zidane has always been Paul Pogba of Manchester United, Eriksen, along with Donny van de Beek of Ajax, has been considered as an alternative. But with United adamant that Pogba is going nowhere in January and Van de Beek ruling out a mid-season move himself, it seems Eriksen remains the only realistic target for the winter. His contract expires in the summer, and if a new one isn’t signed by then, he will be able to agree a free summer switch from January. Therefore, Spurs are likely to be willing to do a deal in order to get at least some compensation for the Denmark international.
Modric would, of course, be no stranger to Spurs and living in north London, having spent four years there during which he made 127 appearances in all competitions before making his way to Madrid in 2012.
