Real Madrid are set to dust off their old plans and try and sign Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain, according to Sky Sports.
The Brazilian was heavily linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu last summer after Cristiano Ronaldo made his move to Juventus, but he eventually stayed at PSG and the talk stopped. Towards the end of 2018/19, roughly coinciding with PSG’s unexpected elimination from the Champions League at the hands of Manchester United in the round of 16, reports sprang far and wide of his wish to return to Barcelona, which he controversially left in a deal which still holds the world record in terms of transfer fees.
However, despite Spanish media claiming Neymar would be willing to accept much lower wages to return to the Camp Nou, it seems that the Catalan club are taking their time with it, and their arch-rivals Real are considering whether to step into the fray. No concrete steps have been taken, but PSG apparently have a better “working relationship” with Real than with Barcelona.
