Talk Sport is today reporting that Real Madrid are to turn their attention to German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer as it looks likely they will not be signing Manchester United’s David De Gea in the January, or summer transfer window.
The Bayern Munich and Germany number one is regarded as one of the best shot-stoppers in the world at the moment and the La Liga champions could make a move for him next year.
It seems as though Jose Mourinho is keen to land a new keeper as a long-term replacement for Iker Casillas and would like the Spanish captain to work with an apprentice for a couple of years.
The 26-year-old has only been at the Bundesliga giants for just over a year, but Real believe a bid around £30 million may be enough to lure him away from the Allianz Arena.
Neuer’s performances for Germany in the European Champions enhanced his reputation as a top class keeper and he is likely to listen to any offers from Mourinho.
However, at his age and with the quality he possesses, the Bayern man is not likely to want to sit on the bench.
It all makes for a very interesting story that is sure to develop over the coming months.
