According to a recent report from Marca, Spanish giants Real Madrid are not prepared to stump up the £100 million necessary in order to land Benfica star Joao Felix. That amount is believed to be his set release clause fee, as a series of top European clubs prepare to go after his signature during the summer transfer window. Felix has been heavily compared to some of football’s biggest and best stars over the course of the last few months, with Cristiano Ronaldo being one of them.
However, whilst Real may not be interested in paying that kind of money, a series of other top clubs are still in the running. This includes Juventus (which would see Felix link up with the aforementioned Ronaldo) Borussia Dortmund and even Manchester United.
Given the nature of his contract as well as how many clubs want him, though, we shouldn’t expect this saga to be over until deep into the transfer window.
