Real won’t renew Modric contract

Luka Modric is expected to leave Real Madrid when his contract expires at the end of the season, with the Spanish giants unwilling to offer the 38-year-old midfielder a new deal, according to Sport.

Croatia captain’s departure from the Santiago Bernabeu would signal the end of a remarkable 12-year journey, which so far includes winning five Champions League trophies, four UEFA Super Cups, five FIFA Club World Cups, three La Liga trophies, two Spanish Cups and four Super Cups. His best year was arguably 2018, when he received the UEFA Best Player in Europe award, the FIFA Men’s Best Player award, as well as the Ballon d’Or, having guided his nation to the World Cup final in Russia.

Modric reportedly had offers from Saudi Arabia during the last transfer window, but he apparently chose to give up such lucrative possibilities in order to stay and continue giving all his quality to Real, for as long as its wanted. But now it seems their need for it is about to come to an end.
