Real Madrid have been working hard towards signing Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain throughout 2019, according to AS.
First of all, the Spanish giants have done their best to maintain a friendly relationship with the Ligue 1 champions. They’ve also occasionally been complementing the player publicly, with captain Sergio Ramos describing Mbappe as an excellent player with a huge future ahead of him and Dani Carvajal adding that signing Mbappe would be a ‘positive move’ for the club. Head coach Zinedine Zidane has revealed that knowing him for a while now, he is hugely fond of the young forward as a person.
Real president Florentino Perez oversaw the acquisitions of players like Luis Figo in 2000 for €60 million, Zidane in 2001 for €72m, Ronaldo in 2002 for €45m, Beckham in 2003 for €25m, and Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009 for €96m. He apparently sees Mbappe, whose price is being quoted at around €300 million at the moment and whose contract expires in 2022, as his next ‘Galactico’.
PSG have tried to get the 21-year-old to sign a new contract, but so far without success.
